Obituary

William L. Milligan, Jr. was born in Salamanca, NY on March 16, 1929 to William L. Milligan, Sr. and Harriett Caufield Milligan. He is survived by two brothers, Donald and Kenneth and two sisters, Nancy Crossan and Mary Finlayson. Bill had six children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In his later years, he married Ruth Brown, who preceded him in death, and had step-daughters Cindy Reynolds, Kay Wagener (Stefan) and step-sons David Settles (Nanette) and Jim Settles.

Bill served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was an avid reader, loved NASCAR, woodworking, and birdwatching, especially hummingbirds. He was known to be hard working, kind and loving with a good sense of humor. He was generous with hugs and smiles, and he was known to make the best pecan pie ever!

Bill had many fond memories of his trips to United Arab Emirates to visit his daughter, Patricia (Chris) Morrow and grandchildren, Emily (Colin) Lauer, Sylvia, Christina and Benjamin Morrow. Some of his adventures there included camping in the Empty Quarter Desert (impressive for a 79-year-old man), going up the highest building in the world (the Burj Khalifa) and exploring the mountains.

He lived in Chipley for 27 years. Before that he lived in the Bradenton, FL area. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and apparently wanted to personally celebrate with Him on His birthday this year! He passed away on Dec. 21, 2015. A private family memorial was held Sunday, December 27 in Gowanda, NY. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
