William Reeves Bowen, aged 65, passed away from this life on January 3, 2025.

William was born on January 29, 1959 at the Washington County Hospital in Chipley, Florida.  He is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Saradee Bowen; Two brothers, Thomas, Jr. (Virgie) and Forrest (Jenny) and his sister, Mary and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William was a special and unique person who was born with cognitive and physical disabilities.  Despite these limitations, he reached out to so many, endearing himself to a community of friends who supported and loved him in return. Though starting early in life wearing leg braces, William walked extensively, visiting his many friends in and around Chipley. Handicapped in speech, he telephoned his friends regularly to check in with them. Though blind in his later years, William continued to telephone because of his extraordinary ability to memorize numbers. He continued to reach out to family and friends by phone even being confined to his bed located by the family room fireplace in his parents' home. William and his mother discussed having new eyes one day. Now he has, in Heaven, new eyes.

William was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chipley, whom he considered family. It was one of his important stopping places during his daily walks and a place to telephone regularly.

The family would like to thank his church, family, friends, and relatives and who played a role in William's life.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 2:00pm at the First Presbytery Church in Chipley, Florida.
