Wilbur Barfield, age 93 of Wausau, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 in the Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. Wilbur was born April 21, 1921 in Wausau to the late Sampson and Ebbie (Walsingham) Barfield. He had been a lifelong resident of Wausau and had been a sheet rock finisher and painter for 64 years. Wilbur had finished the first sheet rock work delivered to Bay County. In addition to his family, he loved gardening, fishing and good food. Wilbur is predeceased by his loving wife; Burnell "Cricket" Barfield; two brothers, Isaac and Winford Barfield; and a sister, Ruth O'Connor. Survivors include; two sons, Wayne Barfield of Wausau and Billy Wade Barfield and wife Doris of Leesburg, Alabama; one brother, David Barfield of Slidell, Louisiana; five sisters, Rachel Coxwell of Merritt Island, Fla., Lillie Turner of Chipley, Laura May Murphy of Panama City, Nettie Finley of South Carolina and Emma Reeder of Panama City Beach; two grandchildren, Blake and Whitney Barfield and two great grandchildren, Elliott and Tucker Barfield. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home in Chipley with the Rev. Troy Lee Walsingham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Barfield Cemetery in Wausau.
