Vida T. Barton, age 88, of Chipley passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Washington County Rehab and Nursing in Chipley, Fl. She was born in Key West, Florida on December 4, 1925 to Dow F. and Clydeen (Borden) Thompson. Mrs. Barton worked as a clerk for 23 years for the United Stated Navy and 16 years for the United States Army. She has lived here for the past 14 years coming from Boca Raton, Florida and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Connie Russell. Mrs. Barton was survived by her husband of 51 years: Gerald "Bud" Barton of Chipley, Fl. 5 sisters: Barbara Thompson of Florida, Ruth Smith of Del Ray Beach, Fl., Joyce Carson of Chipley, Fl., Shirley Richardson of Bonifay, Fl., and Diane Lucey of Virginia with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorialzation will be by cremation. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
