Obituary

Thomas W. Miller, 86, of Springfield, Pa died June 29, 2009 at home. Born and raised in Phila., he was a resident of Springfield for the past 53 years.
He worked 40 years in electric motor repair for General Electric, retiring in 1988. Mr. Miller was active as a deacon and trustee for over 60 years, first at Drexel Hill Baptist and most recently at Springfield Baptist Church. He was a graduate of West Phila. High, class of 1940. His military service was in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Albemarle ( a sea-plane tender) in the Atlantic and on the USS EF Larson, a destroyer that patrolled the S. Pacific. Following his discharge, he received an associate degree from Spring Garden Institute and began his career at GE. Mr. Miller had been an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 227 in Springfield, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed furniture refinishing. He also liked both salt and fresh-water fishing.

Survivors: include his wife of 66 years, Regina (nee Gilbert) Miller; his daughter, Deborah (Karl) Lorenz of Livermore, Ca, his sons, Mark Miller of Lititz, Pa, David (Cindy) Miller of Aspen, CO, his sister, Sarah M. Smith of Drexel Hill, Pa, and granddaughter, Anna Lorenz
Service: Funeral Service will be July 2, 2009 at the Toppitzer Funeral Home, Drexel Hill, Pa. Interment will be at 10 A.M. Tuesday July 7th,2009 at the Oakie Ridge Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
