Mrs. Susan A. Belcher 71, a resident of Compass Lake in the Hills, Alford, FL died July 18, 2023 at home. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years Earl (Chuck) Belcher, her sons Michael Cannata (Katie), Jared Belcher (Kelly) and Kerri Cannata, all reside in CT with grandchildren Hayden and Chloe, granddaughter Emma, FL, a great granddaughter Amyah, FL, one sister Mary Louise Emery (Floyd) Ozark, AL and many nieces and nephews.

Susan was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Theresa Rousseau Ozark, AL and brother Peter Rousseau of Ozark, AL.

Susan was born in Norwich, CT.  She attended East Hampton High School where she graduated. She attended Central CT St. Teacher's College graduating with a degree in English and Literature. Susan taught in CT, Vermont and Florida. She was an outstanding teacher and passed on her love of reading and literature to her beloved students, nieces and nephews.  She brought many schools from class B or C to A level which entitled her honors English students entrance into college. She also taught students that spoke other than English languages, allowing them to matriculate into their new surroundings. Many times students that knew her would come up to her with a hug and thank her for making them learn proper punctuation telling her that without all that hard work and extra homework they would not have been successful in college. After 30 wonderful years of teaching she retired. She was a very bright star in many lives and will be missed dearly.

There will be a celebration of her life held August 5, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Compass Lake in the Hills, McCormick Lake House, Fairview Rd (County Road 167), Alford, FL 32420
