Stephen John Land, age 62 of Vernon, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the Bay Medical Center. Stephen was born November 30, 1949 in Peru, Indiana to the late Daniel I. and Dorothy (Piatte) Land. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corp, and had worked as a factory worker in the automotive industry before moving to the surrounding area several years ago. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Kay (Land) Mullins of Clearwater, Fla. and Cassie Marie Land of Connecticut; four brothers, William Land of South Bend, Ind., Phillips Land of Knox, Ind., James Land of French Lick, Ind., and Lonnie Land of Columbia, Alabama; four sisters, Violet Love of Spring City, Tenn., Charmaine Daniels of Dayton, Tenn., Mary Smith of Bonifay, Fla. and Connie Tharp of LaPorte, Ind. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
