Shelby Jean McElligott, 89 of Chipley, FL passed from this life on May 18th, 2026 at her home. She was born on October 23rd, 1936 in Chipley, FL to the late Leslie and Lillian (Sapp) Harrell.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John McElligott and her daughter, Mary Gay Bateham. Survivors include her daughter, Vanessa Strickland and husband Daniel, son, Harry Hammond and wife Debbie, two sisters, Nina Brown, Vicki Diaz, five grandchildren, Jonathan Hammond (Jennifer), Jessica Sovel (James), Jameson Hammond, Sarah Short (Clint), Colton Bateham and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 24th, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 P.M. A Private Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
