Shannon Ray Herring, age 37 of Chipley passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. Shannon was born on June 11, 1976 in Panama City, FL to Ray Herring and the late Linda (Gainey) Herring. He is a lifelong resident of the Washington County area and worked as a Correctional Officer for 17 years. Shannon loved to fish and spend time at the ball park coaching baseball. He is survived by his father, Ray Herring of Chipley, FL, one brother, J.R. Davis of Kentucky, two sisters, Laurie Herring of Panama City, FL, and Brenda Davis of Greenhead, FL, Paternal grandmother, Betty Herring of Chipley, FL, two nephews, Warren Gainey and Zane Herring-Shook, one niece, Aidan Herring-Shook. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, January 24, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Cemetery with Reverend Tim Owen officiating. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request donations for Shannon's service be sent to Pal's Park Youth Recreation League.
