Roy Sewell, Jr., age 69 of Chipley, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014 in Bay Medical Center. Roy was born August 30, 1944 in Washington County to the late Roy Sr. and Lockie B. (Kent) Sewell. He had been a lifelong resident of Washington County and member of the Salem Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to loving his family, Roy loved farming and working with cattle. In 1969 he was recipient of the Young Farmer of the year award. In 1977 he established Sewell's Used Cars and Trucks in Chipley. Roy loved working with his dozer and seemed to never meet a stranger. Survivors include; his wife of 47 years, Betty Sewell of Cottondale; one son, Bryant Sewell and wife Melanie of Wausau; one daughter, Charity Cochran and husband David of Chipley; three sisters, Bonnie Dettman of Oviedo, Florida, Blondell Crawford of Kissimmee, Florida; Alta Grimes of Chipley; six grandchildren, James Griffin, Denise Pleas, Mitchell Pleas, Andrea Pleas, Haley Cota and Christopher Cota, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Chipley. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Chipley with the Rev. Cloys Joyner and Rev. Danny Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery.
