Obituary

Rosemarie "Rose" Gerren Taylor, 81, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, CSM (Retired) Charles A. "Andy" Taylor and their eight children: James A. Taylor (Beverly), Charles Martin Taylor, Wilson J. Taylor (Terrie), Nicey Taylor Eller (Jay), H. Joseph Taylor (Olinda), Raymond E. Taylor (Cathy), Thomas T. Taylor, and Elizabeth Rose Taylor.

She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alfred and Paddy Gerren of Hawaii and Raymond and Hettie Gerren of Lancaster, Ohio, brother-in-law Otis Cales of Columbus, Ohio, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, twenty-eight nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Helen Gerren, brothers, Emmett, James, Jr., and Frank Gerren and sisters and brothers-in-law Juniann and Roy Rachford, Helen and Edmund Swisher, and Catherine "Kitty" Cales. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Nicey Elizabeth Taylor and great-grandson Michael Thomas Taylor.

Rose was a graduate of the first LPN class at WHAVTC. She received her Associates degree in nursing from George Wallace Community College and worked as an LPN and RN at Washington County Hospital for twenty years. She was a devoted and active member of Live Oak Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, Discipleship teacher, WMU leader, VBS teacher, Bible Study teacher, and prayer warrior.

As a military wife, she served her country supporting her husband during his United States Army career of 24 years. She was an ardent fan of all Vernon High School teams. The "Taylor Girl Scholarship" was established at Troy University in her honor.

Family will receive friends Sunday 4 to 7PM at Brown Funeral Home Brickyard Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31 at 11AM at Live Oak Baptist Church. Interment will be at Live Oak Baptist Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Covenant Hospice for the tender care given to them and Rose and the staff of Homestead Village in Pensacola for the love and thoughtful attention given to her every day. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Live Oak Baptist Church's building fund or the Gideons.
