Ronald D. Sloan, born March 25, 1950, in Jackson County, Florida, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Vitas Healthcare in Panama City, Florida. He lived a simple, joyful life, filled with love for his family and the things he enjoyed.
Ronald was the last of his siblings. He loved fishing, especially bream fishing. When he was younger gardening was one of his favorite pastimes with his mother, and he had a special talent for growing all sorts of vegetables. He also loved antique shopping and visiting flea markets, always on the lookout for something interesting. Collecting vinyl records was another passion of his. Those who knew Ronald said he was always happy and never seen angry. He enjoyed eating Chinese and Mexican food and had a special fondness for hot wings. But most importantly was his faith in Christ. He’s always placed God first and foremost in everything he’s done.
Ronald is survived by his daughter Amanda Sloan Reese and her husband David Reese; his son Ronnie Sloan Jr. and wife Alison Sloan; daughter Christie Sloan Wright and husband Tommy; and son Jason Lee. He was a proud grandfather to Olivia, Hannah, Ryan, Kai, Misty, Brittany, Wyatt, Miranda, Mariah, and Brylen. Ronald shared a deep bond with Debbie Lewis, the love of his life.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Sloan, his sister Inez Sloan Register, his sister Janice Morris, and his brothers Ivey Sloan, Lonnie Sloan, Calvin Sloan, Freddie Paul Morris, and Gaylon Sloan. His parents, Clarence and Wennell Broome Sloan, also preceded him.
A visitation will be held on March 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, located at 1068 Main St, Chipley, FL 32428. Following the visitation, a funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cottondale Assembly of God Cemetery in Cottondale, Florida. Reverend John Broome will be officiating the services.
Ronald D. Sloan will be remembered as a simple man with a big heart, who loved his family and his life’s pleasures. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
