Richard “Ricky” Delbert Padgett, 73, of Vernon, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on November 23, 1952, in Dothan, Alabama, to Richard "RJ" Padgett and Bertha Jean Kolmetz Padgett. A lifelong resident of the Florida Panhandle, Richard worked as a cross-country truck driver and later got into real estate.

Richard's true passion was found in the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming and especially loved guiding others on hunting and fishing excursions. He will be remembered as a successful and hardworking man, a good-natured prankster with a well-timed joke, and a devoted caregiver. Above all, Richard cherished his family and embraced life to the fullest. His kindness, humor, and love for those around him will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard "RJ" Padgett; grandparents, RQ and Rosa Padgett and John and Mittie Kolmetz; brother, Tommy Allen Padgett; and nephew, William Thomas Padgett.

He is survived by his mother, Bertha Jean Padgett; son, Tommy Carr and wife, Shawna; daughter, KC Coleman and husband, Jeff; brother, Scott Padgett and wife, Glenna; sister, Patti Padgett; grandchildren, Justin (Rachel), Tanner, Karlee, Kelley (Malachi), Dechlan, Jordan, Tommy, and Ayla; great-grandchildren, Eli and Beau; closest friend, Larry King; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Live Oak Baptist Church in Vernon, Florida, with Brother Tim Lanham officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
