Raymond Joseph Vosika, 73, of Chipley died as a result of a motorcycle accident in the Smokey Mountains of North Carolina on July 17, 2009. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Chipley. Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel in Chipley with Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Chipley, FL.Ray was born in Minneapolis, Mn, but lived in Florida most of his life. He will be remembered as a master of most things mechanical including airplanes, cars, and motorcycles and as a good friend. He was an expert autobody repairman and owned his own shop, first in Miami and later in Chipley. In Chipley, his interests expanded to aircraft which he owned and flew himself. He had several planes including a restored military trainer, painted in authentic livery. Ray even built his own grass landing strip which is still registered with the FAA as a private airport (though it is grown over now).Ray was an enthusiastic cyclist and restored several bikes for himself including a vintage Indian. It was his love of biking and freedom that took him on extended trips off the main highways and led him to the Smokey Mountains. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; sons, Robert (Marianna), Dale (Sandy), Raymond (Wendy) Michael (Robin), and Erick (Elaina); and daughters, Diane, Lois Rae Weir (Michael), and Robin (Larry), numerous grandchildren including Christian (Robert) and Alisha of Chipley and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters, Donna Vosika CSJ, Judith Boettcher (Gilbert), Dolores Jackson (John), Patricia Gustafson (Timothy) and Susan Wilm (Terrance )and numerous nieces & nephews and by an aunt, Dolores Vosika.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Vosika and son, James Vosika.
