Quay Rathel, age 78, passed from this life Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home. He was born in Graceville, FL on October 11, 1937 to James and Ophelia "Miles" Vester. Quay worked as a surveyor and was in the National Guard. He was a life-long resident of this area and Methodist by Faith. Mr. Rathel is preceded in death by his parent, his late wife; Sara Jo Rathel, and one sister; Faye Owens. He is survived by his wife; Mavis Rathel of Campbelton, FL, one son; James "Tommy" Rathel of Panama City, FL, one daughter; Cindy Aycock of Chipley, FL, one step-dauhgter; Melody Abel of Marianna, FL, one special sister-in-law; Bonnie Dasher, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00P.M., Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Spring Hill Methodist Church in Graceville, FL with the Rev. Buford Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8P.M., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
