Orene Tanton Owens, age 99 of Chipley, FL passed from this life on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital.  She was born on February 23, 1919 in Vernon, FL to the late Harvey J. and Josephine (Worthington) Hinson.

Orene is a lifelong resident of the Washington County area and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Chipley.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husbands, Malvin Tanton and Woody Owens, one step son, Kenny Owens.

Survivors include, two daughters, Betty Gates and husband Jerry of Lynn Haven, FL, Marsha Anderson of Chipley, FL, step sons, Mackie Owens and wife Fran, Donnie Owens and wife Nancy, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and four step grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Chipley, FL with Reverend Mike Orr officiating.  Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will be held at Glenwood Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home of Chipley, FL directing.
