Olon E. Barber, age 86 of Chipley, died Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 at his home. A native of Chipley, he was born to Irving and Hettie Bell (Wells) Barber on April 25, 1923. A former resident of Plant City, Florida, he had retired from the U. S. Navy and was of Baptist Faith. Survivors include his Wife; Mary C. (Sasser) Barber of Chipley, one Daughter: Beverly Ann Rapp and Husband Mike of San Diego, Calif., three Step-Daughters: Annette Jackson of Chipley, Katheryn Turner of Chipley and Cindy Baker of Chipley. One Son;
Kendol Ray Barber of Panama City, two Step-Sons; Jimmy Sasser of Chipley and Teddy Sasser of Wausau, Fla., one Sister: Blonnie Avattaneo of Punta Gorda, Fla, two Grandchildren: Jennifer Forbes and Husband Ray and Natalie Hansen.Two Great Grandchildren Angelica and Ben.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 10th , 2009 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13th at 10 A.M.at the graveside in Hopewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Plant City, Florida with military honors. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to Emerald Coast Hospice. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
