Obituary

Olin Corbin went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, May 2, 2009 after an extended stay in Long Term Care at Northwest Florida Community Hospital. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday May 5, 2009 at Brown Funeral Home located at 912 Brickyard Road in Chipley, Florida with the Reverend James Vickery, Bro Gerald Vickery and Bro. William Watson officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Shipes, Jason Shipes, Justin Woodham, Charles Woodham, William Watson and Jeff Bowen. Burial will follow at Cypress Creek Community Church Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, May 4th 2009 at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel.
Olin was born July 25, 1925 to Jule and Nellie Corbin. As a teenager, Olin joined the U.S. Army and served his country for three years during WWII and received the ATO Medal, a Good Conduct medal and the World War Two Victory medal. Upon returning to Chipley, he went to work for Coggin and Deermont doing road contruction. He worked there for thirty nine years, leaving as a Superintendent when the business closed. He then worked for the County as a Road Grader operator. He retired there after ten years of service. Olin was a member of Rock Hill Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jule and Nellie Corbin; brother Owin Corbin and sisters, Eunice Locke and Mary Alice Vickery.
Survivors include: his children, Jerry Corbin of Chipley, Barbara Joyce Bowen and her husband Jeff of Dothan, AL, Brenda Woodham and her husband Hayward of Dothan, AL.; Grandsons, Mark Shipes of Dothan, AL, Greg Shipes of Seattle, WA., Jason Shipes of Dothan, AL., Justin Woodham of Dothan, AL.; granddaughters; Natalie Bowen of Dothan, AL., Maribeth Corbin of Gainesville, FL.; step grandchildren, Charles Woodham of Andalusia, AL. ,Patricia Bowen of Enterprise, AL, Elizabeth Taylor of Gainesville, FL. 5 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; his sister Myrtle Bush and her husband Bryson of Niceville, FL.; his sister-in-law Kathryn Corbin of Blounstown, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
His family would like to say a special thank you to all of his nurses and aides on the third floor at Long Term Care of Northwest Florida Community Hospital. You were all so kind during his three and a half years there.
