Odis Newsom, age 90 of Chipley, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at her home. Miss Newsom was born January 17, 1921 in Chipley to the late James Franklin and Nancy Jane (Miller) Newsom. She had been a life-long resident of Chipley and was a former tower manager for the Florida Division of Forestry. She was a non-active member of the Order of The Eastern Star and a member of the Sunny Hills Chapel. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by; four brothers, Eddie, Calvin, Russell and Phairow; one sister, Ibra. Survivors include; one sister, Jessie Owens of Chipley; two nephews, John Ferguson of Pensacola and James Eddie Newsome of Marianna; two nieces, Yvonne Taylor of Tallahassee and Elaine Senterfitt of Chipley; a niece in law, Nelloise Ferguson. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10 A.M. in the Sunny Hills Chapel with the Rev. Troy Lee Walsingham and Rev. William Holman officiating. Interment will follow in Ferguson Cemetery.
