Mennie Myrl Rogers, age 89 of Wausau, Florida, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 in Panama City, surrounded by her loving family. Mennie was born April 13, 1925 in Wausau to the late Henry and Neatie (Finch) Owens. After Mr. Henry's death, Mrs. Neatie was later married to the late Buck Pettis. Mennie had been a life-long resident of Wausau, a homemaker and member of the Wausau Assembly of God Church. She was a devout Christian who loved Jesus with all her heart, she was a Prayer Warrior whose calling from God was to be an alter worker and had faithfully served as Sunday School Secretary for over 40 years. Mennie was an awesome "cake maker" and cook. She was known for her outstanding crackling cornbread and pea pickin cake. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by husbands, General Lee Loyed and Allen Rogers; brothers, Hershel Owens, Henry Dowlin Owens, Alton Owens, Dolton Owens, Rex Pettis and step-daughter, Charlotte Sapp. Survivors include; a son, Larry Loyed and wife Nancy; a daughter, Lane Robbins and husband Jimmy; step-son, Thomas Allen Rogers and wife Janice; brothers, Howard Owens and wife Marlene, Ray Pettis, T.D. Pettis and wife Edna, Lottie Glass and husband Ken, Exie Mills, Vita Steverson and husband Charles, N.B. Pettis and wife Louise, A.D. Pettis and wife Ann. She was known as "MeMaw" to many grand, great grand and great, great grandchildren, known as "Aunt Mennie" to an innumerable number of nieces and nephews and as "Sister Mennie" to a vast Church family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Sunday, September 21, at Wausau Assembly Of God Church. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 22, 2014 at Wausau Assembly Of God Church. Interment will follow in Wausau Memorial Gardens.
