Obituary

Melvin Lee Kane, age 60 of Vernon, passed away Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 in the Northwest Florida Community Hospital. A native of Junction City, Kansas, he had been a resident of Vernon since 1999. Mr. Kane was a retired Staff Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force and a member of American Legion Post 356 in Lynn Haven. Survivors include his wife; Rose Marie Kane of Vernon, his Mother; Mabel Helen Kane of Junction City, Kansas, two Sons: Walter Raymond Kane of Destin, Fla. and Melvin Lee Kane Jr. of Junction City, Kansas, two Brothers; Steve Kane of Junction City, Kansas and Gene Kane of Phoenix, Arizona, three Sisters: Pat Hartung of Junction City, Christian Ryan of Junction City and Sharon Booker of Wichita, Kansas, one Step-Son; Mark F. Tharp of Panama City, Fla., three Step-Daughters; Latrel Mossburg of Fountain, Fla., Theresa Carrington of Panama City Beach and Deborah Hayes of Panama City Beach and ten Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 6th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel, Chipley, with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Wachob-Forest Lawn Cemetery In Chipley with military honors at graveside. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening May 5th, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel. Those wishing to do so, may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 64105. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
