Mary Elizabeth Seay, age 89, passed from this life Friday, April 25, 2014 peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at Chipola Nursing Pavilion in Marianna, Fl. She was born in Orangeburg, S.C. on December 20, 1924 to Fred Raymond and Mary Alice (Carson) Hutto. Mrs. Seay was married to the late Loyid Seay in 1943 and moved to Jackson County coming from South Carolina. She retired from the State after more than 30 years at Sunland Training Center and the Jackson House. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, and chickens. Mrs. Seay was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was active in the church, singing in the choir, working with Vacation Bible School, and presenting Christmas and Easter programs. In addition to church activities, Mrs. Seay volunteered for several years at the Washington County Convalescent Home with Joann and Royce Hasty providing a song service. She always had a ready smile a mischievous twinkle in her eye. She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. She was survived by her son: Thomas L. Seay and his wife Judy of Cottondale, Fl., 2 daughters: Martha Toole and the late Bobby of Cottondale, FL. and Jennie Logan and husband Lou of Tallahassee, Fl. Nana, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, left a legacy of 6 grandchildren; Virginia Fleener, Josh Logan, Katie Clunan, Kim Lee, Gabe Logan, and Rachael Briggs, plus ten great grandchildren. Services will be held at 4 P.M. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Robinson Officiating. Interment will follow at the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church for the music program.
