Mary Lou (Haddan) Galloway of Chipley, FL passed peacefully from this life at the age of 91 on February 26, 2022 at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay, FL. She was born on January 25, 1931 in Geneva County, AL to the late Robert Haddan and Quillie L. Haddan.

Mary Lou was a member of First Baptist Church of Chipley and spent 36 years in the Washington County School System as the girl's Physical Education teacher and coach at Chipley High School. She earned her BA and MA from Troy State University, and during her tenure a dedicated tennis, badminton, volleyball, and softball coach. Mary Lou also created and coached the first and only Trampoline Team at Chipley High School performing half-time at basketball games. She touched the lives of many students and athletes from the 1950s to the 1990s with the love and passion she had for her job.

Mary Lou and her late husband, Don L. Galloway spent many of their retired years traveling cross-country in their RV with their beloved siblings, cousins, and friends simply enjoying life, her favorite destination being "the Mountains". Mary Lou was an avid tennis player and true athlete at heart, and remained very active well into her later years. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and her adoring husband, Don L. Galloway of Vernon, FL; her brother, Robert Haddan Sr.; son-in-law, Eric Godfrey, and step-son Stann Galloway.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Harvey L. (Dobber) Hayes Jr. and wife Tammie, her daughter Melonae Hayes Godfrey; sister Grace (Gracie) Paulling and husband John; step-son Brent Galloway and wife Yaya, and Stann's wife Kelly. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom she adored dearly.

Funeral services will be held graveside at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 1st at Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Florida Baptist Children's Home (where Mary Lou spent several years of her childhood), First Baptist Church of Chipley, or Chipley High School Athletic Department.
