Marjorie Rosalie Curtis passed from this life to be with her Lord on November 3, 2010. She was born March 25, 1924, in Decatur County, Indiana, to Simon Leonard and Nora Blanche Belt. She was the youngest of five children, with four older siblings that included two brothers and two sisters. Her mother passed away when she was eight months old, leaving her to start life without the blessing of having a mother to guide her through her young days of growing up. Because of this loss, Marjorie worked hard to be the best wife, mother, and homemaker that she could possibly be.
On July 4, 1941, she and John Henry Curtis were joined in holy matrimony and were blessed with a son and daughter. She was baptized into Christ in 1955 and has served her Lord to the best of her ability since committing her life to Him. In her middle and later years, she became the proud grandmother to three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Until their retirement to Chipley in 1983, Marjorie and John lived and raised their family in the Indianapolis area. During her working years there, Marjorie was employed by Bell Telephone, Paul Harris Department Stores, and Merchants National Bank. She also owned and operated a beauty salon for a number of years.
In her early retirement years, Marjorie enjoyed designing and creating craft items. She also served as a volunteer "Pink Lady" at Northwest Florida Community Hospital for several years. Most important to her always was the precious time she spent with the family she loved for so long and so well.
Surviving Marjorie is her husband of 69 years, John H. Curtis. Also surviving are: son, Glenn (Jeanette) Curtis; daughter, Donna (Oris) Reece; sister, Mary (Vincent) Dudick; grandson Chad (Amy) Hunter; grandson Jason W. Curtis; granddaughter Jodi (Nathan) Courtney; step-grandsons Darrin Stamper and Randy Stamper; great-grandchildren Aiden Courtney, Cole Curtis, Dakota Curtis, Benton Hunter, and Maxwell Hunter; and nine nieces and nephews.
Preceding Marjorie in death were: father, Simon L. Belt; mother, Nora B. Belt; brothers Lester E. and Gerold W. Belt; sister, Evelyn Kleine; brother-in-law, Charles D. Curtis; sister-in-law, Florine Curtis; niece, Judy Bruner.
