Obituary

Luverne Dixon Jenkins of New Hope was born December 2, 1939 to Lloyd Alvin and Lillie Carter Grantham of Wausau. She passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at her home peacefully sleeping. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Lunell Grantham Smelcer and one stepdaughter Karen Jenkins Fishback. Survivors include; her husband, Thomas David Jenkins; two daughters, Angela Locke Matera and Michael Lynn Dixon Martin; five stepchildren, twenty one grandchildren; three sisters, Lena Raulerson of Crawfordville, Lurine Skompski and Louise Pelache of Panama City; two brothers, Loyal Grantham of Tallahassee and Lamar Grantham of Wausau as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jenkins was retired from the Washington County Road and Bridge Department where she touched many lives and was loved by all who knew her. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at New Bethany Assembly Of God Church with the Rev. Leon Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be; Warren Walsingham, Matthew Locke, Jesse Hall, Greg Jenkins, Greg Allen Jenkins and Bobby Walsingham. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
