LaVaughn Pettis, age 77 of Chipley, Florida, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 in Flowers Hospital in Dothan. LaVaughn was born January 1, 1936 in Chipley to the late Henry Arthur and Minnie Vera (Strickland) Pettis. He was a retired welder and boilermaker and a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Chipley. Survivors include; one son, Rodney L. Pettis of Chipley; one daughter, Laura Lynn Jones and husband Kenny of Chipley; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14th, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home Brickyard Road Chapel with the Rev. James Watford officiating. Cremation will follow. The family suggests those wishing to do so, make contributions to a favorite charity.
