Laura Catherine Galloway, age 82 of Vernon, FL passed from this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Flowers Hospital.  She was born on May 14, 1940 to the late Thomas S. Brown and Helen (Matarozzo) Brown.

Laura was born in Paterson New Jersey. Her family moved to Hialeah, Florida when she was 12 years old. In high school, she was voted Miss Hialeah high and did some modeling in her 20s.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and was a great cook, often volunteering to bake for her kids school functions and chaperoned numerous field trips. She was known for her delicious carrot cakes and her Mother's recipe for pasta sauce. She was married in 1969 to her husband Arnold, originally from Vernon, Florida and then they moved from Miami to Vernon in 1985 where they enjoyed eight more wonderful years together until his passing. She made many friends in the 37 years she resided in the area of which the last 22 years were spent with her companion Bill Cook of Bonifay, Fl.  She and Bill enjoyed gardening,  traveling to North Carolina, South Carolina, Naples, Fl , spending time visiting family and RV'ing in Okeechobee Florida. She had a wonderful life.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John Arnold Galloway, her sister Judy Brown Fields and Great Grandchild Corinne Smith.She is survived by her companion of 22 years, Bill Cook of Bonifay Florida, Her brother, Edward Brown (Lynda) and daughters Vicki Smith (Brian) Ruby Lucas and Susan Galloway (Scott). Grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Arthur Williams, Angie Parker, Roberta Wilkinson (Brian) Six great Grandchildren, Alora Wilkinson, Lucas Smith(Destiny)Bradley Williams, Tyler Williams, Todd Brelsford and Meryssa Parker. Three Great Great Grandchildren, Levi Smith, Layton Smith and Tinley Smith. Two nieces, Lori Denny and Karen King.

Mass service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
