Larry Dale Barfield, age 66 of Chipley, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Marianna. Larry was born May 31, 1948 in Albany, Georgia to the late George W. and Rozelle (Veasey) Barfield. He had been a resident of Chipley for the past 20 years, coming from Miami, Florida. Larry had served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam and retired as a fire sprinkler fitter. He was a member of Turning Point Church in Chipley, past Post Commander of Am Vets Post 7, in Chipley, a member of the V.F.W and the American Legion. In addition to loving his family, Larry was an avid sport enthusiast especially for the New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins. He loved old westerns especially John Wayne movies. Survivors include; his wife, Gloria Barfield of Chipley; one daughter, Donna Landry and husband Joey of Chipley; two brothers, Johnny Lee Barfield and Oscar Leon Barfield both of Chipley; two sisters, Kathleen Giddiens and husband Billy Ray of Chipley and Debbie Jean Cannon and husband Dana of Milton, Florida; three grandchildren, Brandon Tomas Licea, Briana Michelle Dempsey and Joseph Lee Landry; many nieces,nephews,great nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 10 A.M. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. James Guy officiating. Interment will follow in Wachob Forest Lawn Cemetery in Chipley with military honors.
