Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Ann Taunton, beloved mother, granny, great-granny, and cherished friend, who left us on November 26, 2024 at the age of 73. Born on October 3, 1951, to Robert H Whoolery and Annie C Kittrell. Joyce lived a life filled with love, creativity, and dedication to her family.

A resident of Westville, Joyce was known for her sense of humor, love of quilting, and devotion to her family. She had a special gift for quilting, a craft she began at a young age and perfected throughout her life. Each quilt she made was a labor of love, carefully stitched with intricate patterns and vibrant fabrics that reflected her warmth and attention to detail. Her quilts were treasured by many, each one telling a story, preserving memories, and offering comfort to those who received them.

Above all, Joyce adored spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether she was baking in the kitchen, telling stories of days gone by, or simply enjoying the company of her loved ones, she made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert H Whoolery, mother Annie C. Kittrell, and husband Bobby Taunton, Sr. She is survived by her brothers Bobby Whoolery, (Nora), and David Whoolery; son Bobby Taunton, Jr (Sarah), and daughter Laurie Bess; grandchildren Christy Taylor (Justin), Skylar Bess, Caitlyn Taunton, Trista Bess, Hunter Taunton, Kole Taunton, and Kelcei Taunton; her great-grandchildren Jolee Taylor, and Rylee Taylor; best friend Debbie Girard; and many other dear relatives and friends who were fortunate enough to be touched by her life.

A celebration of Joyce Tauntons's life will be held at Hatcher Cemetery on November 29th, 2024 at 10:00 A.M., where family and close friends will gather to honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any local animal shelters, in keeping with her spirit of generosity.

Rest in peace, Joyce. Your quilts, your love, and your legacy will continue to wrap us in warmth and comfort for years to come.
