Joseph William Patrick Adamson, age 67 of Chipley, entered heaven on March 17, 2016. Services will be held this fall in his hometown. Joe was born June 1, 1948 in Sunnyside, WA to the late Robert Earl and Marguerite (Chavet) Adamson. As a teenager, Joe worked for Herritt Trucking. Joe Graduated from Sunnyside High School, Class of 1966. He attended Gonzaga University for a year after which he pursed his dream of joining the submarine forces on December 1967. Master Chief Adamson retired in December 1993 after 26 years.
He finished Submarine School November of 1968 and qualified in submarines July of 1970 on GOLD crew of USS LEWIS & CLARK (SSBN644). Other ballistic missile submarines he served on were USS HENRY CLAY (SSBN 625) GOLD and USS MICHIGAN (SSBN 727) GOLD. His shore duty assignments were TRIDENT Training Facility, Commander Submarine Group Nine, Strategic Systems Project Office and Military Sealift Command Cape Canaveral, FL.
Joe is survived by his life partner, Maria (Ri) McGlamery of Chipley, one son, Joseph Michael Adamson and wife Victoria of Renton, WA, one daughter, Kaelee Harper and husband Shawn of San Antonio, TX, one grandson, Kieren Adamson, four granddaughters, Kiara, Makiah, Lila and Finley Harper, two sisters, Susan Manfred and husband Gerry of Spokane, WA, and Dianne Leger of Charlotte, NC, three brothers, Rob Adamson and wife Kathy of Auburn WA, Jeff Adamson and wife Jackie of Wenatchee, WA and Mark Adamson of Salem, OR. Memorialization will be by cremation.
