Obituary

Johnnie Everette (Red) Davis, 87, died March 27, 2010 at his home in Blackshear, Georgia.
Mr. Davis was born in 1922 in Davisville, Florida and lived for many years in Chipley, Florida. He and his wife, Pauline, moved to Blackshear in 2006 to be near their daughter and family.
Mr. Davis was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of Florida with a Master's Degree in agriculture. He had a long career as a county agricultural extension agent in Chipley, Florida. He received the National Association of County Agricultural Agents' Distinguished Service Award in 1967.
Mr. Davis is credited with obtaining Washington County, Florida's designation as one of the first Rural Renewal Program areas in the nation. He was a charter member of the Chipley Kiwanis Club, secretary of the Washington County Cattleman's Association for 15 years and a director and avid supporter of Washington County 4-H Clubs.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline McConnico Davis; two children, Martha Fey (Rick) of Blackshear and John R. Davis (Iris) of Greensboro, Florida. Survivors also include three grandchildren, Kelly Fey (James) of Richmond Virginia, Brian Fey (Jenna) of Blackshear, Adam Fey (Ashley) of Kingsland Ga., a brother, Henry P. Davis of Perry, Florida and three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Lauren and Olivia Fey of Blackshear.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at the Graveside in Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
