John David Salter, age 78 of Chipley, FL passed away Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital. John was born January 17, 1936 in Owassa, AL to the late John and Elsie (Powell) Salter. He has been a resident of the Chipley area since 1974 coming from Brewton, AL and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Chipley. John also retired from the Washington Homles Technical Center of Chipley, FL where he was the Commercial Driving Instructor. John is survived by his wife Patricia Salter of Chipley, two sons, Doug Salter and wife Lisa of Chipley, FL, David Salter of Chipley, FL, one daughter, Kim Potthoff of Chipley, FL, seven grandchildren, Drew, Destiney, Haley, Meghan, Lyndsi, Annah and Allan, six great grandchildren, Austin, Te'a, Evan, Kaden, Britton and Jaxson. Family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Chipley, FL with the Reverend Mike Orr officiating. Interment will follow at the Wachob Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Chipley, FL with Brown Funeral Home directing.
