John Michael Porter, age 57 of Bonifay, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home. Mr. Porter was born in Chipley on July 17, 1952 to the late Roy and Martha Fears Porter. He was a Captain with the Florida Department of Corrections, a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church, a member of Orion Masonic Lodge # 40 in Chipley, A member of the Hadji Shrine in Panama City and a member of the Scottish Rite. Survivors include his wife; Sherrie Hodgins Porter of Bonifay, one Son; Michael Shawn Porter and wife; Jessica of Sneads, Fla., one Step-Son; John Cullen Voorhies of Bonifay, a Step-Daughter; Amme Crowley and husband Matthew of Rock Hill, S.C., one sister: Sue Hardin of Headland, Alabama, two half-sisters; Hortense Drummond of Monticello, Georgia, Priscilla Foster of Piedmont, S.C. and five Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 11 A.M. in Blue Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road Chapel. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
