John Francis McElligott, 89, of Chipley, FL passed from this life on Thursday, March 28, 2024.  John was born in Vicksburg, MS to the late John McElligott, Jr. and Teresa (Hickman) Hullum.

John is also preceded in death by grandchild Cody McGoldrick, and step-daughter Mary Gay Bateham.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Jean McElligott of Chipley, FL, his children Keith McElligott (Thomasina), Debbie Horne (Tom), Kim Locker (Paul), step-children Harry Hammond (Debbie) and Vanessa Strickland (Daniel).

He had eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pensacola, FL and was successful in his own business, J-Mac Controls. He loved nature and enjoyed fishing, gardening and bird watching.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home from 10:00-11:00 A.M. with a service to follow.
