John Henry Barfield, age 82, passed from this life Friday, October 14, 2016 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital. He was born in Chipley, FL on March 24, 1934 to Preston Ronald and Flora Bell "Barkley" Barfield.

John worked as a painter being self-employed most of the time and had many hobbies he loved such as making a garden and fishing. He also loved knapping flint and playing music which he was able to do with many instruments.

John is preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Preston Ronald Barfield Jr and 2 sisters; Helen Moore and Shirley Sanford.

He is survived by his wife Nellie Barfield of Chipley, FL. One son; Leo Barfield of Tallahassee, FL. 3 daughters; Jeannie Williams of Cottondale, FL, Caroline Davis of Chipley, FL and Pamela Rose Meredith of Chipley, FL. 1 brother; Jack Barfield of Chipley, FL. 2 sisters; Eloise Hill of Sneads, FL and Hazel Koruso of Orlando, FL, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 1:00P.M., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5 to 7PM Monday, October 17, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
