J.D. Lewis, age 73 of Chipley, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at his home. J.D. was born April 11, 1937 in Brooksville, Florida to the late Elmer Montgomery and Lena (Stokes) Lewis. He had been a resident of Chipley since 1973, coming from Daytona, Fla. J.D. was a self-employed mechanic and machinist and with his wife, was co-owner of Lewis Machine Shop in Chipley. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ginger L. Lewis of Chipley; four sons, Billy Chapman and wife Lisa of Memphis, Tenn., Randy Lewis of Wildwood, Fla., Timmy Petchak and wife Jillian of Mooresville, N.C., David Lewis of Chipley; one daughter, Laurie Peel and husband Kevin of Chipley; two brothers, Donnie Lewis of Orlando and Cecil Lewis of Okahumpka, Fla.; grandchildren, Tyler Lewis, Shelby Lewis, Davin Lewis, Harley Peel, Marileigh Lewis, Abbey Peel, Sam and Cody Chapman. Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Brickyard Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite charity.
