Jane Hamilton Hardy (born Bettie Jane Hamilton), a 55 year resident of the Atlanta area, died the 10th of February in Atlanta. Jane was born in Enterprise, Florida on September 24, 1933 to Irvin and Pearl Hamilton. She attended Belle Glade High School where she proudly played clarinet in the band. As a teenager she met Ray Hardy, the love of her life. They were married on January 17, 1952 and were happily married 58 years until Ray's death in 2010. Soon after they were married, they traveled to England, where Ray served in the Army. Their oldest child, Pam was born there, and Jane retained and shared a love for England with her children. Jane was a homemaker and full-time Mom to her three children until they were mostly grown. She was a cub scout leader, as well as a girl scout leader. Later she became a kindergarten teacher at Dunwoody Baptist Church, a job she threw her heart into much to the benefit of her students. A talented and creative person, Jane played piano and was a voracious reader. She had a large and dear circle of friends through her neighborhood in Chamblee and her membership in the Dunwoody Baptist Church. And she was especially fond of her one and only grandchild, Jack Hardy. She is survived by their three children: Pam Garcia (husband Roberto) of Temescal Valley, California, Paul Hardy of Atlanta and Philip Hardy (wife Rhonda) of San Clemente, California. Also surviving Jane are her sister Louise Stanley, originally of Deltona, Florida and her grandson, Jack Hardy of Clemson, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Graveside in Hardy Cemetery near Hinson Cross Roads with Reverend Lindsay Martin Officiating and Brown Funeral Home directing.
