Obituary

James Richard Redmon was born on November 23, 1946, in Campbellton, Florida at home, and passed away on June 8, 2026, in Cottondale, Florida. He lived a full, honest life marked by simple pleasures and hard work.

James was an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, and his dedication to his country was something he quietly held close. After his service, he found joy in small things — he loved building model cars and trains. His hands were skilled not only at assembling tiny parts but also at woodworking, where he had a real talent for making things with care and precision. He also enjoyed building guns, a craft that spoke to his focus and patience.

Work was a big part of James’s life. He spent many years working in pulpwood, helping his father with the family business. Later, he worked for the division of forestry, staying connected to the land and the trees he had always valued. James was a graduate of Ft. Pierce High School, a step that helped shape his early years.

Family meant a great deal to James. He was preceded in death by his father, Arrie Roy Redmon; his mother, Lena Pearl Morgan Redmon; his son, Richard Jonathan Redmon; as well as one grandchild, one brother, and three sisters. Though these loved ones have gone before, James leaves behind a large family who cherish his memory.

He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Redmon Winskey and Sonya Purvis, who carry forward his spirit and legacy. Along with them are his 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom knew him as a quiet, steady presence in their lives. James also leaves numerous nieces and nephews who remember him fondly.

James Richard Redmon’s life was one of loyalty and simplicity. He may not have sought the spotlight, but he was a man who built strong ties to family, community, and craft. He will be missed by those who knew him and loved him for the honest, hardworking man he was.
