James Kenneth McFatter passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025. He was 91 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ranzy and Mae McFatter, along with his brother T.L. McFatter, his sister M.E. Adkinson, and his oldest son Kenny Earl McFatter.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine, two sons, Michael McFatter and John Nolan and two daughters, Cheryl Nolan-Cazes and Tina Williams. Eight grandchildren Ciara, Sable, Christie, Jessica, John, Ashley, Haley and Caleb and seven great-grandchildren.
He was born in Chipley, Florida and was a graduate of Vernon High School where he was on their first football team in 1952. He was an avid Yellow Jacket fan until the end. James retired from the Florida Department of Transportation in Pensacola, Florida as an inspector and engineer. During his life he enjoyed farming, fishing and camping with his wife, parents and five children and being a Shriner and Mason. After his retirement he was a talented woodworker and an accomplished wine-maker. He also enjoyed traveling and visited each of the United States and over 13 countries. His military service was with the Army National Guard and the Army Reserve during the Korean conflict era.
Viewing will be on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. and the Funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. at Brown Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the Shriner's Children Hospital in Tampa, Florida are appreciated by the family.
