Obituary

Jack L. Melvin, age 79 of Chipley, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his home. Mr. Melvin was born May 18, 1933 in Chipley to the late Mose and Annie (Bailey) Melvin. He had served in the U.S. Army as Msgt in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the Chipley AmVets Post # 007 and was of Catholic faith. Mr. Melvin was an aviation enthusiast and his grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Survivors include; his wife, Janice Melvin of Chipley; one son, James Lee Melvin and wife Luda of Crawfordville, Fla.; one step-son, John L. King and wife Kurumi of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters; Tracy Lynn Thompson and husband Jeff of Round Rock, Texas, Leslie Renee Hagerman of Clearwater, Fla., Heather Nichole Melvin and fiancée Vince Wilson of Chipley; two step-daughters, Cynthia King of San Antonio, Texas and Penny Hicks and husband T. J. of Chipley; one brother, Edward Melvin of New Orleans, Louisiana; three sisters; Lois Baker of Graceville, Fla., Stella Coley of Clearwater, Florida and Mable Melvin of Ebro, Florida; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10 A.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel with Father George Sammut officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.
