J. Donald Pearce, age 70 of Chipley, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on December 31, 1943 to the late Percy Jr. and Dorothy (Brown) Pearce in Washington D.C. Donald served in the Navy for four years and has been a resident of the Chipley area for 10 years coming from West Palm Beach, FL. He had a passion for sports, specifically the Miami Marlins and the New York Yankees baseball and Alabama Crimson Tide Football. Donald was a cowboy at heart and raised horses during his time in Greensboro, NC. He had numerous jobs throughout his life. He worked for Al Packer Ford in West Palm Beach, FL and was the Manager at McDonalds for 10 years where he won numerous awards. Donald owned a handy man business and then after moving to Chipley he took the job as Office Administrator at First United Methodist Church of Chipley where he has been since 2009. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Douglas Pearce, one nephew, Paul Pearce. Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol (Olsen) Pearce of Chipley, FL, one son, Brandon Pearce and wife Elizabeth of Chipley, FL, one daughter, Raven Latham and husband Michael of Panama City, FL, one sister, Elizabeth Quinn of Port Charlotte, FL, seven grandchildren, Richard Latham, Michael Latham Jr., Roman Pearce, Troy Pearce, Ricky Dempsey, Loretta Latham, Alexandra Pearce and numerous nieces and nephews and two very special friends, Jeff and Stacey Dempsey of Lake Worth, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Chipley with Reverend Jerry May officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorialization will be by cremation. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Restoration Fund at First United Methodist Church of Chipley 1285 Jackson Avenue, Chipley, FL 32428 in Donald's memory.
