Obituary

Imelda R. Taylor was born on February 4, 1929 in Washington County, Florida. She passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026 at Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida.

Imelda loved the simple joys in life, like crocheting, reading, and doing yardwork. Imelda spent more than 20 years working in the cafeteria at Vernon High School. She loved people and was extremely happy when visitors came to see her, always making sure that no one ever left her home hungry. She was strong, resilient, and especially protective of her family. One of her special interests was studying and sharing family genealogy. She enjoyed using her math skills by helping her neighbors with tax work and also supported her husband in operating their family logging business. Imelda loved and trusted the Lord deeply in her own quiet way.

Imelda is survived by her son Dwayne Taylor and his wife Sherri, her son Steve Taylor and his wife Donna, her brother Dallas Rogers and his wife Marianna, her brother Jerry Rogers and his wife Elsie, and her sister-in-law Joyce Rogers. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marty Riley and his wife Marsha, Stephen Riley, Amanda Gross and her husband Casey, Allen Riley, Jesse Taylor, Casey Dudley and her husband Jimmy,  Zachary Taylor and his wife Carolyn, great-grandchildren Brooklyn Temples, Carter Riley, Reece Riley, Cason Gross, Gavin Riley, Cadee Gross, and JacksynAnne Dudley.

Imelda was preceded in death by her husband Rex Taylor, her parents Willie J. and Neva Best Rogers, sons John Riley, Jeff Riley, and infant son William Jesse Riley, brothers Gene T. Rogers, Lowell Rogers, Barney Rogers, and sisters Wilma Pope and Deline Cornwall, and grandson Travis Riley.

Funeral service will be held 10:30AM Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Chipley, Florida with Bro. Ronnie Gean Hagan and Bro. Steve Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Imelda's honor to Emerald Coast Hospice or the 3rd Floor Skilled Nursing Unit at Northwest Florida Community Hospital.
