IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hilda
Pippin
August 26, 1951 – October 4, 2025
Katherine Hilda Pippin, age 74, passed from this life Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born in Marianna, Florida on August 26, 1951 to Joe and Cletta Mae (Barber) Chason.
Hilda lived her childhood in Pascagoula, Mississippi, raised by Evelyn and Addie Chason, along with her cousin Becky. As a teenager, she moved back to Bristol, Florida, and lived with her dad, Joe Chason. He taught her how to drive on old pig trail roads, which became one of her favorite pastimes. She was known for burning up the roads in sports cars while blasting her favorite songs. Her love of Mustangs earned her the nickname Mustang Sally from her children. She graduated from Liberty County High School in 1969.
Hilda had various jobs before she found her calling as a paramedic. She lovingly served the Florida panhandle area for almost 30 years. Through hard work and dedication, she graduated from paramedic school while raising six kids. She was well-known and loved as a leader and mentor in the EMS community. Her quick decision-making skills and ability to stay calm in the storm quickly advanced her in her job, and she served in multiple counties as EMS director.
Hilda met and married her soulmate, RC "Pipp" Pippin, in 1995, and they shared 30 beautiful years together. Hilda enjoyed spending time with her family; often, her friends became her family. She especially loved cooking for and spoiling her grandchildren, always playing cards or Scrabble for fun during family gatherings. She was always good-natured in her competitiveness and was known for her infectious laugh and sense of humor. She was an avid moviegoer and book reader who couldn't resist a good thriller. One of her and Pipp's favorite activities was vacationing in the mountains. They were able to take one last trip a month before her passing. Hilda enjoyed traveling, visiting over a meal, and testing her luck with scratch-off tickets or in a casino. After a lifelong search, she found and reconnected with her long-lost brother, Donald Mayne, and traveled to Wisconsin to finally meet him and his wife, Donna.
In 2014, she retired from EMS due to health issues. While this stopped her from working, it didn't stop her from traveling and doing the things she loved. Her compassionate and kind heart touched many, both professionally and personally. She loved life, living each day spontaneously, and always had an up-for-anything attitude! "Ride, Sally, ride!"
She is preceded by her parents, her grandson; Blake Shuler and her parent-in-laws; Roy and Helen Pippin. Hilda is survived by her husband of 30 years; Roy Charles "Pipp" Pippin, her sons; Christopher Pippin and wife Christy, Whaylon Peddie and wife Jessica, and Chase Peddie, her daughters; Jonette Shuler, Hillary Mears and husband Matt, Kerstin Peddie, and Falynn Peddie, her brother; Donald Mayne and wife Donna, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
