Grace Othella Shealy, age 95 of Tallahassee, FL passed quietly from this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1930 in Sarasota, FL to the late Oliver Gill and Gracie Corbett Gill.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Shealy, sisters, Cleo, Lorita, and Janet, and brothers, Orbidue, Charles and Kenneth. Grace is survived by her three sons, Tim Shealy and wife Lisa of Tallahassee, FL, Mark and Paula Shealy of Tallahassee, FL, Philip Shealy and Jill Kuperberg of Tallahassee, FL, niece Cyndi Yeoman and husband Gene, niece Jarenda and husband Rick, grandchildren, Ryan Shealy and wife Anna, Wade Shealy, Matthew Shealy, Michael Shealy, Miranda Pensyl, Katelynn Pensyl, James Pensyl and wife Ashleigh, and seven great grandchildren.
Grace was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved all and left no one without a smile.
She loved her puzzles, paintings, crafts, genealogy, fishing, food, and family time. Guava jelly maker, grave stone hunter, family historian, tailor, birdwatcher and master gardener.
She was renaissance woman of many hats. She sold snow cones, worked cows, bailed hay, worked as a nurse, and raised her boys. She was a third generation Floridian and first to get a college degree in her family.
Her greatest passion was gospel music. Mom could play music by ear and always sang for the Lord in his house. She was a faithful follower of Gospel Tabernacle Church in Russellville, Kentucky. She logged in twice a week for as long as we can remember to watch the services. Her faith in the Lord defined her. She was a shining example of what a woman should be. A servant of the Lord, A partner to her husband, a friend to all and a role model for her boys.
Her legacy of faith, love, and strength will live on in all who knew and loved her.
