Gerald Wayne Kent of Alford, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Gerald was born August 4, 1950 in Alford, FL to Lula (Walters) and Curtis Kent, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, brother Rickey Kent, sister Mary Alice Mitchell (Jimmy) and brother-in-law Malvin Corbin.
He is survived by his daughters Lisa Barton (David) and Julie Kent; brothers Charles E. Kent (Joan), Curtis Kent Jr, and Frankie Kent (Margaret) ; Sisters Wanda Grick (Jim), Carolyn Chancellor (Charles), Kathryn Justice (Paul), Linda Register (Larry), Elizabeth Corbin, Gail Burnett (Bill), Judy Rich (Chuck).
He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Kiley Justice, Tanner Benefield, Conner Barton, Karmen Benefield, Kendall Benefield and Kate Barton.
Gerald was a simple man who adored his family. He was a loving dad, papa, brother and uncle. Most days he could be found sitting in the shed with his brothers talking and telling stories for hours. He loved to fish and to be outside in his yard.
Gerald served as an Army Medic in the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as manager for Chipola Builders Supply (Tatum's Hardware) for over 40 years.
He was also a devoted President of the Kent Reunion for the past 50 years.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21st at Brown Funeral Home in Chipley. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service at the same location, followed by a graveside service at Kent Cemetery in Alford.
Flowers are welcome; however, as alternative donations can be made to Emerald Coast Hospice.
