Obituary

Rev. George R Cooper Sr. age 81, of Porter Pond passed from this life on April 13,2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan Alabama. He was born in Perry Fla. to William R. and Mary Edna Cooper on Sept 26, 1930. Reverend Cooper was a retired Pentecostal Minister after 45 years. He graduated from college with a BS degree, he went on to play Major League Baseball as a catcher with the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati baseball teams, and has lived in Washington County for the past 31 years moving from Plant City, Fla. where he enjoyed hunting and fishing .Rev Cooper is preceded by his wife Nora Lee Cooper, he is survived by two sons Edwin A. Nichilson, and George B. Cooper Jr of Chipley, Fla. three daughters Shirly A. Farleo of Brandon, Fla. Carolyn Jean Haller Chipley, Fla. Edna Diane Howard Brandon, Fla. one sister Norma Schultz, Panama City, Fla. 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 17,2012 at 2:00 P. M. in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Buford Pippin officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Sunny Hills. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service, Brown Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
