George Wesley Cleveland Jr. age 76 of Chipley , passed away peacefully on June 25th 2026.
He was born January 26 ,1950 in Hattiesburg , MS and moved to Chipley , FL in 1958 where he attended Kate Smith Elem. and then later graduated from Chipley High School in 1968. As a teenager he worked for Mr. Hollis Toole at the local Gulf gas station, then after graduating he worked in the Stump "tar wood" business with his father. He Married Norma Kittrell in 1971 and they later had 2 children. Then around 1975 he started operating Cleveland's Gulf Station next to Washington County courthouse (same building he had worked at as a teen) He continued in the Gas business for the next 10 years. He then went to work with a friend who installed aluminum siding , which lead to the next chapter in his life. He went on to start up his own business Installing vinyl siding , building screen rooms, and aluminum carport awnings for the next 25 years. At the age of 57 he developed renal kidney failure and became disabled and was put on dialysis , to which he spent the next 19 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents G.W. and Lillie Mae Cleveland, and sister Linda Cleveland.
He is survived by his son Greg Cleveland and wife Dena of Chipley , and his daughter Vicki Brown and husband Fate of Tallahassee. His sister Marie "Register" Guettler and her husband John of Graceville, and his brother Gerald "Jerry" Cleveland and wife Lisa of Chipley. also survived by his former wife and long term care giver Norma "Cleveland" Kelly. He was blessed with 4 grand children Hudson & Henley Cleveland and Jack & Beau Brown. He will be truly missed.
The family would like to give Special thanks to the Staff of Davita Dialysis center of Chipley who have provided care and compassion to George for the past 19-1/2 years.
