Obituary

Exa MaeTharp, age 89 of Cottondale, FL went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on May 21st, 1935 in Wausau, FL to the late Alex D. Miller Sr. and Sallie E. (Mercer) Miller.

She was a graduate of Chipley High School and later moved to Chattanooga, TN working for the Bank of Tennessee.  After being in Tennessee, Exa moved to Chattahoochee, FL to work for the Florida State Hospital where she met the love of her life, Herman Tharp.  They married on January 9th, 1956 and had two sons, Kevin and Eddie.  Upon her husband's retirement they moved to his home place in Cottondale, FL where she would spend the rest of her life.

Exa is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, George H. Tharp, one brother, David Miller, two sisters, Clara R. Ferguson and Lena Miller.

Survivors include, two sons, Eddie Tharp of Cottondale, FL, Kevin Tharp and wife Silvestra of Cottondale, FL, three grandsons, Alex Tharp, Devin Tharp, Chad Brannon, one sister, Hazel Pippin, two nieces, Patsy Justice and husband Ray, Wanda Sapp and husband Aubrey, one brother-in-law, Linwood Tharpe.

The family will receive friends for Visitation on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 P.M.  Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 at Piney Grove Church of Cottondale, FL at 10:00 A.M.  Interment will follow at Wausau Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
