Gene Charles Shults Sr., age 80 of Sunnyhills, Fla., passed away Saturday, June 5th, 2010 in the Bay Medical Center. Mr. Shults was born March 22, 1930 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Nathan and Florence (Bush) Shults. He was a retired physicist, a systems engineer with I.B.M. and was a published author. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Korea and was of Christian Faith. He had been a resident of Sunnyhills since 1993, coming from Outer Banks, North Carolina. Survivors include his wife; Carol Shults of Sunnyhills, four Sons: Cdr. Eugene Charles Shults, Jr. of Ambler, Pennsylvania, Mark Nathan Shults of Mustang, Ok., Eric Michael Shults of Somerset, Kentucky and Christopher Thomas Shults of Atlanta, Ga., four Daughters; Patricia Ann Shultz of Sunnyhills, Doreen Carol Vescelius of St. Paul Minnesota, Kimberly Diane Kearney of Allentown, Pa. and Jeanie Elilzabeth Shults of Panama City Beach, Florida, one Sister; Mary Theresa Lis of Atlanta, Ga., a Brother-in-Law; Clayton Saaracen of Naples, Fla., thirteen Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 8th, 2010 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, Main Street Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9th at 10 A.M. in the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Main Street, with William Van Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Sunnyhills with military honors. Brown Funeral Home of Chipley is in charge of the arrangements.
