Emma Adeline Barnes, 75 of Cottondale, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2025 in Cottondale, Florida surrounded by her loving family.

Emma, also affectionately known as "Runt", was born on February 11, 1950 in Cottondale, Florida to the late Jett and Nellie (Crooms) Barnes. A lifelong resident of Cottondale, she was known as a second mother to the many nieces and nephews in her family, and will be remembered as a wonderful cook. Runt was the family historian, passing down numerous stories to the younger generations in order to keep the family legacy alive. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Samuel Barnes, Jett Barnes Jr., Charles Barnes, James Barnes; sisters: Katie Sullivan, Thelma Russell, Betty Clark, and Helen Barnes.

She is survived by her brother: George Barnes of Cottondale, Florida; sister: Eloise Potter of Springhill, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, cousins and loved ones.

A graveside service will be held 2:00PM Monday, August 25, 2025 at Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Kynesville, Florida.
